Skirtings demand and prices followed the fleece types during the week, with strong gains on Tuesday and Wednesday and a more subdued market on Thursday.  Crossbred prices moved up all week, but by lesser amounts than occurred with the Merino types. It was another good week for oddments with strong early demand that remained throughout the week. The Average AWEX Merino Cardings Indicator was up by 3.2% on top of last week’s gain of 5.7%.

Buyers for China were very strong this week, followed by strong support from buyers for Europe and India. The European support was strongest on Thursday. Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 53,609 bales are currently rostered for sale, an 18.8% increase when compared with the same sale last year. It will be the last sale prior to the three week Christmas break.
