Sales opened in the South, with some easing of fine wool prices following the previous week's Launceston offering. There was some recovery/firming over the next two days, with keen demand for the stronger wools.

Lower VM skirting types continued to be in good demand, crossbreds were generally up and oddments closed on a firm market in the North and the South, but on an easing market in the West. Overall, it was a good week with continued widespread competition.

Buyers for China were dominant, with some who have been quiet in recent weeks and during the Chinese New Year being more obvious.

Sales will be held in Newcastle, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 72,301 bales are currently rostered for sale, the second largest offering for the season after this week.
