Laurie Bateman of Bollon, who won the Diamond Sports Shears in Longreach, has hoped that the shearing competitions will lure more young men to join the wool industry.
The award is known as the most prestigious award in the country and Bateman said that the contest this year was very close. The lust to win the award will hopefully convince the young generation to pursue the wool industry.
