Crouched in a tiny cage and holding a sign that reads, "Animals Suffer on Fur Farms," a fur-clad PETA member will remind passers-by that animals on fur farms suffer every day, particularly in the extreme summer heat.
Other PETA members will hold a huge banner that reads, "Summer Is No Vacation for Animals on Fur Farms," and pass out leaflets. Animals raised for their fur are confined year-round to small, filthy cages, but their suffering is compounded during the summer, when countless animals—especially babies—suffer from heat exhaustion and dehydration:

"There's no excuse for wearing fur," says Matt Rice, PETA's skins campaign coordinator. "But considering the animals who suffer from exposure, confinement, and untreated illnesses and injuries before they are gassed or electrocuted on fur farms, there are literally millions of reasons not to wear fur."
