Initiatives to induce workers in wool sector

To meet the shortfall of shearing shed workers in south and west regions state, the Australian Agricultural College Corporation's Longreach campus has in collaboration with an industry group decided to train more shearers and wool handlers.

Peter Scott, Campus Manager informed that big money in resources sector was luring people but good career options were available in wool industry as well.

Scott added that if people are shown advantages of working in sheds and the kind of money they make the same way as people from Brisbane who were amazed to see the amount of money made in just a week.

He informed that group made of unemployed people belonging to south-east and south-west Queensland were one of the most successful training groups.

Scott stated that nine out of 11 groups have got jobs and they had been given just one week training in shearing and handling wool.
