Wool garment exports grow in January-October

The latest Customs figures show, in October 2008, China's total exports of wool knitwear registered 38,440,500 pieces, a reduction of 8,815,400 pieces or down 18.65 percent from the previous month, but up 18.09 percent year-on-year.

Wool knitwear export value in October marked US $274,448,700, down 26.22 percent from the previous month, but up 7.37 percent year-on-year. The average unit cost of China's exports of wool knitting garments in October was $7.14 per piece, down $0.73 from September and 9.04 percent lower than October 2007.

From January to October, China's total exports of wool knitwear completed 285,959,300 pieces, an increase of 16.04 percent year-on-year and the amount reaching $1.986 billion, up 16.99 percent year-on-year. In the first 10 months, the average price of wool knitwear exports was $6.95 per piece, slightly up 0.87 percent over the same period last year.
