Ukrainian designers expect orders from foreign buyers

Fashion designers who showcased their creations at the 30th Ukrainian Fashion Week that ended earlier this month are hoping to receive orders from foreign buyers who attended the event.

The five-day event saw record participation of foreign buyers who assessed collections of various designers for the Fall/Winter 2012-13 collection.

The event saw participation of about seven major buyers from overseas, compared to virtually no major buyer three years ago. This has given a glimmer of hope to fashion designers in the East European country.

In terms of buyers' presence, Ukrainian Fashion Week is currently among the best in Eastern Europe. The participation of buyers increased after the organizers of the event started actively inviting buyers about three years back.

Most of the Ukrainian designers work from small workshops and they are not prepared to undertake mass production. For these designers, expanding their business is becoming difficult due to paucity of investment.
