Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year is Christopher Kane

Scotland's top fashion, design and textile talent were honoured at the country's mst glamorous red carpet event - The 7th Annual Scottish Fashion Awards in association with InStyle held at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow.

The guest list, which included supermodels, celebrities and stars from stage and screen, confirmed the event's status as a globally revered 'red carpet' event, appearing as a permanent fixture on Swarovski's Official Red Carpet Calendar alongside The Oscars, Golden Globes and Cannes Film Festival.

Hosted by British style icon Alexa Chung, the event saw many of the biggest names in British fashion scoop top honours. Christopher Kane picked up the crown for 'Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year', he said:

"I am extremely proud and grateful to receive my award. I think that Scotland has such a wealth of great fashion talent from design through to production and the heritage is something that we should all be proud of."

Supermodel and face of Chanel Stella Tennant was inducted into the 'Scottish Fashion Awards Hall of Fame', with personal video messages broadcast from Karl Lagerfeld and Mario Testino. Dundee born designer Brian Rennie won 'Fashion Innovator 2012' with video greetings from Jane Seymour and Angela Bassett from Los Angeles.

Annie Lennox's daughter, Tali Lennox took home 'Scottish Model of the Year' with TV star Karen Gillen picking up 'Scottish Fashion Icon 2012'. Glasgow born Faye MacLeod collected 'Scottish Fashion Communicator of the Year' as the right hand to Marc Jacobs in her role as Creative Visual Director at the luxury house Louis Vuitton.

Esteemed fashion journalist Colin McDowell MBE was awarded the honorary 'Fashion Ambassdor 2012' accolade for his contribution to Scottish fashion and industry. McDowell said: "I am deeply honoured to have my work acknowledged with such a prestigious award and I am especially pleased that it has come from Scotland, the home of my ancestors."

'It was also revealed that Founder and Chairman Tessa Hartmann is to be given an Honorary Degree of Doctor from Glasgow Caledonian University later this month, in recognition of her achievements in promoting Scotland's contribution to the fashion industry at home and internationally.

There was an impressive array of other celebrities who flew in from Australia, New York, Milan and Paris to attend the event including supermodel and face of Dolce & Gabanna David Gandy, New York celebrity stylist and media figure Derek Warburton, an array of Scottish designers and textile houses including Holly Fulton, Louise Gray, Dashing Tweeds and Caerlee Mills.

TV personalities Lizzie Cundy and Made in Chelsea Star Millie Mackintosh also made an appearance, alongside several of fasion's most prominent business figures. Olcay Gulsen, owner of Supertrash fashion label, founder of billion-dollar make-up brand Bare Escentuals Leslie Blodgett, who flew in from San Francisco, Chairman of House of Fraser John King and Communications Director of Marks & Spencer Dominic Fry to attend the event.
