Fashion designer Raghavendra Rathore has created a Benarasi brocade ‘achkan’ for Saif Ali Khan, who is tying the knot with actress Kareena Kapoor, according to The Times of India.

The achkan has been designed with inputs from Saif Ali and references from the groom’s father, the late Pataudi’s wardrobe.

Apart from the achkan that sans any embroidery and will be worn by the groom at the main function, Rathore has also created eight to nine other dresses.

As the wedding ceremony would be spread over a three to four day period, Saif would choose from the other dresses to be worn at different functions, the Times of India quoted Rathore as saying.

All the dresses are very classy, tight-fitted and customized pieces, which can be termed as ultimate couture, according to Rathore.

Achkan, the wedding outfit, is made in Benarasi brocade and is paired with Jodhpuri breeches and turban. It also has a set of dual buttons to give a classic look. There is also a pocket scarf to match the outfit of the bride, Rathore said.

The theme for the ‘achkan’ is gold. Several classic and bio-degradable fabrics like silk, cotton, velvets and Benarasi brocades have been used in the making of the costume.

Rathore had earlier styled Saif Ali Khan in the film ‘Eklavya’.
