Sarah Burton, the extremely talented English designer who created the iconic satin and lace wedding dress worn by the indisputably most well-dressed lady of the world ‘the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton’, has been honoured with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by HRH Prince Charles for her services to the British fashion industry.

Cheshire-born, 38-year-old Burton, who rose to fame for designing the legendary bridal outfit which features long, delicate sleeves and a satin bodice combined with a billowing full skirt, was also included in Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours list in June 2012.

Named amongst the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine’s April 2012 issue, Sarah is presently the creative designer of Alexander McQueen, which specializes in women’s and men’s ready-to-wear clothing.

Initiated by King George V in the year 1917, the Order of the British Empire is an order of chivalry given to people for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.
