After helming the famous luxury leather goods label Coach for sixteen long years, the talented American fashion designer Reed Krakoff has decided to go solo.

The 49-year-old designer, who is currently the president and creative director of the New York-based brand, is stepping down in June 2014 (when his contract with the company will expire) to concentrate solely on his own eponymous label, reported WWD.

Krakoff’s popularity as a designer shot overnight after dressing up Michelle Obama for several occasions, including the president's swearing-in ceremony, Vogue’s cover shoot and the official White House portrait.

Honoured with the prestigious CFDA Accessory Designer title for three times, Reed Krakoff has served as the Vice-President of CFDA from 2006 to 2010.

Krakoff’s eponymous brand specializes in a full line of innovative ready-to-wear clothing and accessories.
