As the integration of small circuits into textiles and the advent of latest printing technologies have changed the role of apparels from just covering once body to be an extension of technology, fashion designers around the world are eyeing on new and modern technologies for advancement of the fashion industry.

Speaking to fibre2fashion, British designer Nicholas Oakwell said, “As a designer I seek to look at new technologies that have just become available in the fashion industry and I am also looking at the heritage as well as craftsmanship of garment construction.”

Sharing similar opinion, the Vietnamese designer Dang Thi Minh Hanh, who is known for hybridizing traditional designs with modern clothing, says, “The desire of the people to change is the advancement of society, in which fashion is the breath of life. So the life is always moving in a positive direction and it is the discovery of the new pioneering style.”

According to Ms. Ata Te Kanawa, co-founder of The Indigenous Maori Fashion Apparel Board, new technologies and modern techniques are mostly used for producing a new genre of prints in different textiles.

However, french fashion designer Françoise Hoffmann says, “My designs are mostly based on Neolithic tradition and a very little of technology is used for modern printing process. So I am just very sensitive to industrialization.”

Introduction of new technologies in the field of fashion designing has not only given birth to new designs and patterns but it has also helped in improving the entire value chain of clothing from production to sale.
