Spring-summer collection of Ekru is being displayed at the boutique on 1/4 Rowland Road up to April 29, 2006. The collection has a varied range of lively colours, exciting prints and trappings.
Customary embroideries like kantha and zardosi get a fashionable makeover when combined with prints and textures.
A variety of womenswear comprising kurta sets; kurtis, tunics, skirts and Indo-westerns in white with silver work and creams with gold are displayed.
Longstanding churidar kurta is revamped with novel silhouettes, finishes like pleating, tucking, appliqué, puckering, cutwork and tie-and-dye.
Draped tops are paired with ruched pants, harem pants and boot-laced churidars, lending an international appeal to traditional Indian outfits.
Knits have been combined with chiffons and mulls with modest embroidery and block prints.
Shell embellishments along with antique metal work decorate fluid feminine fabrics like chiffon and lace, with a lot of crochet trimmings.
There are more formal dresses in kora and gold trimmings of crochet, tissue and frayed detailing.
“The collection has mixture of customary and modern, the richly sensual and the calm. It has the epic for the feminine form and expresses itself in soft fabrics and vibrant colours,” explained Ruchira Kandhari from Ekru.
“The silhouettes are finely tailored and structured to give an ultra feminine look. It is colorfully designed for the modern Indian woman,” she adds.
