Wiren says the best part of the collection is a multipurpose silk georgette dress shaped like a kite.

"It can be a dress or a jacket, tied, worn backwards, knotted to make it shorter and the armholes can do different things," Wiren quips.

Opposition stimulates Wiren's approach to styling, with sporty knits layered over graceful silk dresses.

"It has quite a feminine feel but I like to balance that with some aggression as well," she says. Wiren hopes for more Australian stockists (she has one each in Victorian and Western Australia) while attracting international orders to increase her business in New Zealand, where she supplies to 13 stores.

Luci Torres - pleasing, graceful and office-friendly are images not often heard at fashion weeks anywhere. Luci Torres hopes to change that with a 25-piece collection designed for long, hot summers in the city.

"I find it's hard to dress for summer because you can end up looking a bit of a mess," Torres says. "These are things you can just slip on and wear to a gathering."

"Revolving to menswear for idea, she has employed traditional tailoring techniques for an extremely wearable collection all about reworking the shirt," as per Torres.

That translates to dresses with cuffs at the edge, shirt sleeves that enfold around the waist as a belt and pin tucked tuxedo bibs on casual cotton voile shirts.

"For buyers there's a lot of choice, everything comes in a minimum of three colours," Torres says.

It appears she knows her way about a collection and how to sell it, that is because she ran another label, I Peck Your Pun, with her sister Montse for seven years after graduating with a diploma from the former East Sydney Tech (now Sydney TAFE Design Studio).
