Lanvin's collections fetch hefty bucks

French fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin's personal collections which had more than 100 exotic 19th and 20th century clothes and fabrics were auctioned in Paris, amassing plenty of fortune for her heirs.

Spanish designer Mariano Fortuny's Venetian-made velour fetched 2,200 euros ($2,794) against the indicative price of 300-500 euros. A shawl made in China in 1900 and decorated with elephants and camels sold for 1, 600 euros against the price of 150-200 euros.

Main buyers during the auctions were museums coming from as far as Chile. Lanvins was one of the most famous designers of 1920s and she died in 1946 nut her fashion house is looked after by Alber Elbaz.
