In the fashion world, Ravi Bajaj has made a mark and earned the nickname `Sultan of Subtlety'. Yet, the ace fashion designer longs to be recognized for his craft and eye for details.

Ravi had his higher studies in the United Kingdom, he came back to India in 1987 and launched his own Ravi Bajaj label with only three machines which he could afford those days.

These days he has got 100 labourers working for him to do all the hand embroidery work. He also has plans for expansion in Northern cities like Chandigarh and Nagpur.

He gets his clientele mostly form these places. In the North there is more inclination towards spending than the South, hence he will start with Northern cities.

Participation in Lakme India Fashion Week or Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is not on the agenda for the ace fashion designer, but according to him these are good launching pads for budding designers.

For Ravi Bajaj, prime concern is domestic clients, even though he has a large non-resident Indian clientele. He doesn't incorporate changes according to the whims and fancies of his clients. He prefers to make changes in his dresses for the entire market but not certain types of customers.

All over the world, fashion designers do not design costumes, so he designs collections and costume designing is not his area of expertise.
