Abueng Gouwe is an upcoming fashion designer in Mochudi, who dreams of making a name amongst the who's who of fashion. She wants her designs to make their mark.
Gouwe, 31 years old, runs her business called Bui Fashion and Design house. She wants to open her own office in future, with young designers as her employees who would wear uniforms featuring her company logo.
She will be joining higher courses in fashion and design in South Africa to comprehensively study designing, stitching and freehand cutting.
She started her design house in 2000 by taking a loan from Financial Assistance Program (FAP) and purchasing six sewing machines. She designs and sells garments, sofa covers, sheets, pillowcases and curtains.
Gouwe's wedding dresses include two piece suits, German print dresses, suits for grooms and headgears.
She opines that local designers have the potential to stand in global arena today owing to increased exposure.
