What is style? How does a trend become a classic? Can anyone really define 'glamour?'

Swapan and Seema celebrate the subtle and the mysterious with their fall/winter 2007 collection titled 'Mystery Chic'. This eclectic collection features bold experiments with unusual combinations of silhouettes and fabrics. The designers have placed special emphasis on their strength-traditional Indian embroidery. The focus, this time, is on got a technique.

The collection with its opulent fabrics, lush textures is aimed at the sophisticated woman. The look is definitely feminine but edgy. It is designed for young women who challenge ready-made, traditional notions of femininity.

The dominant colours are beige and black. Delicate fabrics like chiffon and net have been subtly embellished with black and silver sequins for a subtle but dramatic effect. The emphasis is on glamour-but with a relaxed attitude. There is a mix of voluminous almost baggy silhouettes along with a nod to the global trend of layering.

Mystery Chic is for the woman who loves chic-who is sexy/ attractive without being obvious. The woman who is bold- with a degree of restraint. She doesn't reveal all of herself but holds something back. She is beautiful because she is mysterious.

The motifs combine the floral and the abstract. They reflect Swapan and Seema attempt to expand their own frontiers, to explore the unknown. That which is beyond the familiar, the known.

It's been ten years since swapan and seems launched their label- a decade that has seen them evolve as designers. In 2002 they made their debut at the India Fashion Week with critical acclaim. Their design philosophy attempts to fuse the traditional with the contemporary, the classical and the modern.
