Headdress made from bottle tops and Chinese-inspired puffball gown were two innovative design styles that bagged top honors at the recently-held Fashion Design Studio TAFE NSW Croser Evening Wear Award, aimed at recognizing the emerging talent in Australian fashion.
Some of the recipients of the award, which acknowledges the best among final year students at Australia's most prestigious fashion school, were Alex Perry, Lisa Ho and Nicky Zimmermann.
Twenty-two-year-old Spencer Webber, who created the headpiece, said his creation was made from bottle tops that his bartender friend collected over time. Webber is aiming for the skies and already has his future plans chalked out.
Fellow classmate Haley Adlam, 22, of Pymble was just as brilliant in her award-winning concept. She hand-sewed finest silk organza into the resplendent gown that was liked so much by the judges' panel. Adlam's hard work — she worked ceaselessly for 39 hours straight — finally paid off.
