Dreamy, romantic, luxuriant are the words that characterize designer Maheka Mirpuri's festive 2007 collection – Khwaahish.

Drawing inspiration from the old aristocrats, from royalty circles and from the high society, Khwaahish is the desire of every woman to dress, look and feel like a 'Princess'.

Inspired by a neo-conservative wave of class and style, Maheka's Khwaahish reiterates that Style is never out of fashion!

“Khwaahish translates the gentleness and refined composure associated with the title 'Princess' which is what every woman desires to be,” says Maheka.

Khwaahish conjures images of elegance and is a depiction of all things feminine and lovely. Khwaahish spells glamour, class, elegance and style where Maheka's girly princess is now a sophisticated lady, a majestic queen, an empress.

Fine details are of strategic importance in defining the image of these 'Princesses' who wear their love of luxury with pride. Embellishment is discreet and less opulent. Consequently decoration is kept to a minimum but is prominent where used.

Predominant in the collection are chunky crystals that have been used to embellish sari blouses, kurtas and also dresses. Monalisa brooches on flowy dresses, bows, chains, crystal tassels, feathers, thread work and leather are used to enhance garments and add a touch of ornamentation in khwaahish.

Fabric is the method du jour for adding detail and Maheka uses range of fabric embellishments in Khwaahish - from delicate draping to more dramatic ruffles and fabric flowers. Ruffles, ribbon, ruching, gathering, pleats, fabric flowers, and draping are all details that Maheka uses in her collection this season.

Picking her way through a gorgeous spectrum of colors, Maheka is seduced by the power of purple and the entire khwaahish collection sees tinges of the hue whether it is soft lavender or dusky heliotrope or a deep violet.
