Yengkhom Devson, also known as Momoo, was born in Manipur. After finishing school, Momoo was trained as a Mechanical Engineer at the Dr. AIT Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore (now Bengalaroo). With dreams nurtured in his heart, he found his true calling in Fashion Designing and left the engineering course mid-way. Momoo passed out of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai in 2002.
Devson's contributions have been appreciated at different stages of his journey. He received the Most Innovative Garment Construction Award in the NIFT graduation show, 2002. He hit the limelight when he won the Best Designer Award at the GenArt International Design Competition held in New York 2003. He had also designed some collection for the Durban Fashion Week in 2006.
In the same year, Devson was one of the few selected designers from India who participated at the World of Wearable Art Design Competition, New Zealand. He bagged the Most Innovative Designer Product award for his work in Seamless Woven Garments (SWG) at the North-East Trade Expo, 2005, held in New Delhi.
