This collection is inspired from bamboo and other eco-friendly materials found in North Eastern part of India. The name of the collection is 'Oh My Gosh (OMG)! It's Natural'.
It's the same reaction, I am expecting from customers previewing them, as naturally produced items are becoming rare and exclusive to own and to find something which is so elegant & handcrafted & hand-produced from natural fibres should give other designers, a run for their money.
As a designer, I was always thinking of creating something which fits best to resort style of clothing having worked close to all natural fibres available in North East. It's now 12 years, since I have been working around these materials in different capacities. I have always wanted to do an exclusive international line of clothing for export and western-outfits oriented clients.
After having worked on various projects for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Development Commissioner – Handicrafts (DCH), National Centre for Design & Product Development (NCDPD), I finally decided to launch my own range of products and services from New Delhi.
The One Design Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is my own firm which promises to take care of all design requirements with special focus on natural fibres and materials.
My collection “OMG Its Natural” is an absolute ready to wear resort collection. The collection clearly focuses on natural fabrics, accessories and makes maximum usage of them to achieve chic looks for its customers.
The garments have straight edgy silhouettes with fine detailing of natural lace and piping to give it minimalist yet rich look, using non glamorous fabrics like cotton and its blends.
Everyone has long known me for designing and mixing modern with natural & handcrafted. To focus on livelihood of remotely placed artisans whom I continuously provide training in villages of Assam, Nagaland & Manipur, I have deliberately clubbed this collection with a range of eco-friendly handbags & bamboo jewellery to maximise the employment and sales to these artisans.
The entire collection focuses on bamboo and cotton blends of fabrics for comfort & feel. Cotton is without doubt the most popular natural fabric of all times. But adding newly available fine bamboo fabric was fun to add. Its soft, cool and comfortable finish is extremely gentle on the skin and breathes well due to the fibers ability to absorb perspiration quickly.
Natural materials played a big role in inspiring me to create something which is close to nature especially when you are holidaying in resorts. In my fashion collection “OMG its Natural”, I am offering 100% cotton & bamboo styled outfits for cool & comfortable summers ahead.
