Number of textile companies has introduced branded perfumed clothes made with specialised fabrics for Indian consumer.
The garments include aroma-emitting t-shirts, anti-bacterial underwears and perfumed lingeries.
Some companies have got these products from abroad whereas others are manufacturing them here using foreign technology.
Microscopic capsules which include special properties in fabrics release distinctive fragrances when one brushes against the fabric.
Special fabric garment might cost about 50 percent more than normal one but customers will be available.
Navin Kumar Tayal, Chairman, Eskay K'n'IT said it markets specialised t-shirts and underwears under its two brands, League and Assets and opines that it will have good market.
Garments are also supplied to retail chains of Shoppers Stop, Pantaloon and Westside.
The customers will have a choice of at least 25-30 different aromas which include aromas of jasmine, mint and apple, said Tayal.
The garment can also increase vitamin levels for example an aloe-vera t-shirt can increase nourishment level and so would a vitamin t-shirt, added Tayal.
Alok Industries has products like water repellent fabrics, for rainy seasons, and soil-free fabrics for those interested in gardening.
These products are not mass produced, said Dilip Jiwrajka, Managing Director.
Portico has launched anti-microbialbed sheets, anti-mite and anti-bacteria pillows in the markets.
The latest is glow in dark bedsheets with moon and star designs on the sheet glowing in dark, said Rajiv Merchant, Chief Executive Officer.
Specialised products make up about 10 percent of the products with scope to grow in a year or two, Merchant added.
