In Delhi, the market experienced a drop of ₹2-5 per kg in cotton yarn prices due to poor demand from the downstream industry. A Delhi market trader explained to Fibre2Fashion, "The market was quietening as buyer interest in new deals was waning. Trading activities in wholesale markets decrease during festivals as traders and buyers engage in festive celebrations. The yarn market will find direction after Diwali." Prices for various counts of yarn were reported, including 30 count combed yarn at ₹255-258 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹282-287 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹230-233 per kg and 40 count carded at ₹255-257 per kg, as per Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
The Ludhiana market maintained a steady trend amidst slow purchasing from the weaving industry. A Ludhiana market trader told F2F, "The textile industry's entire value chain prefers to purchase only for immediate needs. A payment crisis persisted in the market. Traders struggled with liquidity management as buyers failed to make payments on due dates."
In this market, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹253-263 per kg (GST inclusive), 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹243-253 per kg and ₹248-258 per kg respectively, and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at 233-238 per kg, as per TexPro.
In Panipat, the recycled yarn market remained steady as trading activities decreased due to the festive atmosphere. Prices for raw materials like cotton comber and recycled polyester fibre remained unchanged. Traders reported silent buyers in the market, exhibiting caution in new purchases.
In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹74-78 per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts were noted at 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹49-52 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹90-95 per kg and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹133-142 per kg. However, cotton comber prices were noted at ₹115-116 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹67-70 per kg.
North Indian cotton prices stabilised at the beginning of the week, following a slight increase at the end of the previous week. Traders indicated that spinning mills were cautiously purchasing cotton, although cotton arrivals had marginally increased. Cotton arrivals also commenced in Punjab following an easing of the ginners' strike, though the arrival volume was negligible. The total arrival in north India was 31,000 bales of 170 kg. State wise arrival was noted as Haryana 9,000 bales, Punjab 1,000 bales, upper Rajasthan 9,000 and lower Rajasthan 12,000 bales.
Cotton was priced in Punjab at ₹5,550-5,650 per maund of 37.2 kg, in Haryana at ₹5,525-5,625 per maund, and in upper Rajasthan at ₹5,450-5,670 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, it was priced at ₹54,000-55,500 per candy of 356 kg. In comparison to the Shri Ganganagar market, cotton traded ₹100-125 per maund higher along the Bikaner line.
