  • In north India, cotton yarn prices showed a mixed trend with an increase in Delhi due to mills raising prices and stable demand, while Ludhiana saw a decrease due to stockists trying to reduce inventory.
  • Panipat experienced a drop in recycled PC yarn prices due to low demand.
  • Overall, cotton prices in the region declined, following the trend in ICE cotton.
The north Indian market observed a varied trend in cotton yarn prices. In the Delhi market, prices increased by ₹3 per kg. Mills raised the prices of cotton yarn, which supported the prices in the open market. However, in Ludhiana, stockists and traders predominated, and their selling of cotton yarn led to a decrease in prices by ₹1 per kg. In Panipat, the price of 30 recycled PC yarn also dropped by ₹5 per kg due to weak demand from the downstream industry. Furthermore, cotton prices in north India declined due to a weaker trend in ICE cotton.

In the Delhi market, there was an increase of ₹3 per kg in various counts and varieties of cotton yarn. A Delhi-based trader told Fibre2Fashion, "Spinning mills were not keen to clear their stocks at lower prices. They have already sold a substantial quantity of cotton yarn. The mills increased their mill rate, which supported market prices. They were comfortable after export sales at a good price."

In Delhi, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹278-281 (approximately $3.34-3.38) per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹303-308 (approximately $3.64-3.71) per kg, 30 count carded at ₹253-258 (approximately $3.04-3.10) per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹280-283 (approximately $3.37-3.40) per kg today, as per Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.

Conversely, in the Ludhiana market, cotton yarn prices were bearish. Prices decreased by ₹1 per kg across all counts of cotton yarn. A trader from Ludhiana told F2F, "Stockists and traders were attempting to reduce their inventory purchased at lower rates. Demand from the downstream industry was nearly average. Buyers refrained from making fresh purchases due to a new payment rule. The bearish tone may persist until the end of this year."

In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹274-284 (approximately $3.30-3.42) per kg (inclusive of GST); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹263-274 (approximately $3.16-3.30) per kg and ₹270-280 (approximately $3.25-3.37) per kg, respectively; and 30 count carded yarn was noted at ₹254-261 (approximately $3.06-3.14) per kg today, as per TexPro.

In Panipat, the recycled yarn market observed a decline in the prices of fine counts of recycled PC yarn. The price of 30 recycled PC yarn dropped by ₹5-7 per kilogram. However, other varieties and counts of recycled yarn remained stable. Traders noted that the demand for fine counts of recycled yarn had decreased, leading to a price drop for 30 recycled PC yarn.

In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹76-80 (approximately $0.92-0.97) per kilogram (GST paid). Other varieties and counts included 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹51-54 (approximately $0.62-0.66) per kilogram, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹88-93 (approximately $1.06-1.12) per kilogram, and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹125-130 (approximately $1.50-1.56) per kilogram. Cotton comber prices were noted at ₹120-122 (approximately $1.45-1.47) per kilogram. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹70-72 (approximately $0.84-0.87) per kilogram today.

Cotton prices in north India further eased due to a declining trend in ICE cotton. The natural fibre was traded at lower rates by ₹40-50 per maund of 37.2 kilograms. The market has observed slower arrivals of cotton towards the end of the current season, with arrivals below 9,000 bales of 170 kilograms. According to trade sources, mills continued purchasing cotton, but the prices followed the ICE cotton trend.

Today's arrival was noted at 8,800 bales, each weighing 170 kg. State-wise, the arrivals were recorded as follows: 800 bales from Punjab, 3,500 bales from Haryana, 2,500 from upper Rajasthan, and 2,000 bales from lower Rajasthan.
