  • Cotton prices in north India are stable, with today's arrivals totalling 15,000 bales of 170 kg across various states.

In north India, the cotton yarn trade decreased today in major markets on the occasion of the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Traders reported that cotton yarn trade was slow. Cotton yarn prices remained at previous levels in Delhi and Ludhiana. The market is expected to respond to fundamentals later this week. The cotton yarn trade is currently experiencing slow demand from the weaving industry due to weak export orders from global and domestic brands and retailers.

A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, "Most buyers were absent from the market, preferring religious engagements over trading activities. Only buyers with immediate needs were purchasing cotton yarn. The market's direction will become clearer in the coming days."

In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹252-262 per kg (including GST); 20 and 25 count combed yarn traded at ₹242-252 per kg and ₹247-257 per kg, respectively; and 30 count carded yarn was priced at ₹232-237 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro. A Delhi market trader told F2F, "The cotton yarn trade in the Delhi market was steady but slow. Normalcy may return on Tuesday." In this market, 30 count combed yarn traded at ₹250-255 per kg (excluding GST), 40 count combed at ₹275-280 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹227-231 per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹252-255 per kg, as per TexPro.

A similar situation was observed in Panipat, India's home textile hub. Recycled yarn traded at previous prices amid slow trade. In this market, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) traded at ₹76-80 per kg (GST paid). Other varieties included 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹51-54 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹88-93 per kg, and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹133-142 per kg. Cotton comber prices were ₹112-114 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was priced at ₹74-78 per kg.

North India's cotton prices remained stable after a slight increase in the last days of the previous week. Traders reported limited trade in the natural fibre. Today's arrival was noted at 15,000 bales of 170 kg. State-wise arrivals included Punjab with 2,000 bales, Haryana with 5,000 bales, upper Rajasthan with 5,000, and lower Rajasthan with 3,000 bales. Cotton was priced in Punjab at ₹5,475-5,550 and in Haryana at ₹5,450-5,550, in upper Rajasthan at ₹5,325-5,525 per maund of 37.2 kg, and Bikaner line cotton at ₹5,550-5,650 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced at ₹52,000-54,000 per candy of 356 kg.
