  • Cotton yarn prices in Delhi increased by ₹2-3 per kg, owing to increased export orders and higher quotations by spinners.
  • While mills attempted to increase prices due to the higher cost of cotton, the Ludhiana market remained stable amid average demand.
  • Panipat's recycled yarn market was quiet, and some yarn types saw a slight improvement in buying interest.
Cotton yarn prices in Delhi rose by ₹2-3 per kg, driven by increased export orders and spinners' higher quotations. Mills sought to pass on the rise in the cost of cotton, although the Ludhiana market maintained a stable trend amid average demand.

Despite the mills' attempt to quote higher prices due to the cost of cotton, caution prevailed as market conditions might not favour such a move. In Delhi, export demand buoyed cotton yarn prices. Panipat's recycled yarn market remained quiet, and open-end polycotton yarn was steady in the face of bearish demand. UV yarn saw slightly improved buying interest, but this did not translate into an upward price movement.

The Delhi market witnessed an upward trend in cotton yarn prices. The market noted an increase of ₹2-3 per kg due to better buying. A trader from the Delhi market told Fibre2Fashion, "Mills were trying to increase yarn prices because they had to bear an additional cost of cotton. Better demand supported market sentiments for an increase in yarn prices." In this market, 30-count combed yarn was traded at ₹270-272 per kg (GST extra), 40-count combed at ₹300-302 per kg, 30-count carded at ₹240-242 per kg, and 40-count carded at ₹270-272 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.

The Ludhiana market continued to see average demand from the downstream industry. Cotton yarn prices were steady in the market. A trader from the Ludhiana market told F2F, "The demand for cotton yarn was moderate. It was not enough to support yarn prices. Mills were unable to recover the additional cost of production." In Ludhiana, 30-count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹259-269 per kg (GST inclusive); 20 and 25-count combed yarn were traded at ₹249-259 per kg and ₹254-264 per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of 30-count was noted at ₹239-244 per kg, as per TexPro.

The Panipat market noted stability in recycled yarn prices. Cotton comber and recycled polyester fibre were also traded at previous levels. A trade source said that demand was very slow for open-end yarn, but UV yarn noted slightly better buying. However, there was no change in the prices. In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹77-82 per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts were noted at 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) ₹50-54 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹92-97 per kg and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹135-145 per kg. Comber prices were hovering at ₹125-127 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹74-76 per kg.

North Indian cotton prices remained almost stable. The recent increase in the natural fibre discouraged spinning mills. A bearish tone in yarn trade was also a cause of concern for mills. Cotton was traded steadily in Punjab and Rajasthan, but the prices were slightly up in Haryana, where cotton was traded ₹25 per maund of 37.2 kg higher. A trade source said that buyers were silent on higher prices. However, slower arrival may push up prices until new cotton arrives in the market. North India may see new arrival at the beginning of next month. The natural fibre was traded at ₹6,025-6,125 per maund in Punjab, ₹5,900-6,000 per maund in Haryana, and ₹6,200-6,300 per maund in upper Rajasthan, and at ₹58,000-59,500 per candy of 356 kg in lower Rajasthan.
