The Ludhiana market saw a steady trend in cotton yarn prices. Mills and stockists have been aiming to sell at current prices and showed no interest in reducing prices to attract buyers. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, "Mills were not under pressure to sell yarn at lower prices. Their financial flow was manageable, preventing them from slashing prices." However, mills do have some flexibility to cut prices due to cheaper cotton.
In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹260-270 per kg (GST inclusive). The 20 and 25 count combed yarns were traded at ₹250-255 per kg and ₹255-260 per kg, respectively. The carded yarn of 30 count was noted at ₹240-250 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
In the Delhi market, cotton yarn prices also remained steady. There was increased buying due to low inventory. A trader from the Delhi market told F2F, "After slow buying amid poor retail demand, the stocks of the consumer industry and stockists were depleted. Current lower yarn prices were also attractive. Higher demand is good news for market sentiment."
In Delhi, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹260-265 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹285-290 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹232-237 per kg and 40 count carded at ₹262-267 per kg, according to TexPro.
Recycled yarn and raw materials like cotton comber and recycled polyester fibre remained stable amid poor demand. Buyers were still cautious about making fresh purchases. Traders and the consumer industry showed little enthusiasm to build stock, instead preferring to make new purchases when they receive trade inquiries from the downstream industry.
In Panipat, the 10s recycled PC yarn (grey) was traded at ₹77-82 per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts included the 10s recycled PC yarn (black) at ₹48-52 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (grey) at ₹92-97 per kg, and 30s recycled PC yarn (grey) at ₹135-140 per kg. Comber prices hovered at ₹120-122 per kg, while recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹69-72 per kg.
North Indian cotton prices have remained almost steady as demand and supply were limited. Cotton arrivals reduced to less than 1,000 bales of 170 kg. Meanwhile, spinning mills were slow in making new purchases due to poor demand from the weaving industry. The natural fibre was traded at ₹5,700-5,800 per maund in Punjab, ₹5,450-5,550 per maund in Haryana, and ₹5,800-5,900 per maund of 37.2 kg in upper Rajasthan. The natural fibre was sold at ₹53,700-55,500 per candy of 356 kg in lower Rajasthan.
