  • Cotton yarn prices increased by ₹1-2 per kg in Ludhiana due to spinning mills' reluctance to lower prices despite bearish sentiment.
  • Mills have export orders for the next 2 months, allowing price control.
  • Delhi's market remained steady, reflecting regular demand.
  • Panipat saw a decline in cotton comber prices and a ₹2 per kg reduction in cotton waste prices.
Cotton yarn prices edged up ₹1-2 per kg in Ludhiana as spinning mills were unwilling to lower the prices despite a bearish sentiment in the textile value chain. Many mills have sufficient orders for cotton export for the next two months, allowing them to dictate prices. The Delhi market noted a steady trend in cotton yarn amid limited buying, with traders expecting current market conditions to persist for a few weeks.

The Ludhiana market observed an increase of ₹1-2 per kg in cotton yarn prices. Although domestic demand was not particularly strong, the mills found support from export orders. Gulshan Jain, a trader from the Ludhiana market, told Fibre2Fashion, "Mills were reluctant to reduce prices despite weak sentiments in the market. They have sufficient orders for cotton yarn for the next two months, so they were not under pressure to sell yarn in the local markets."

In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹265-275 per kg (GST inclusive), while 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹255-265 per kg and ₹260-270 per kg, respectively. Carded yarn of 30 count was noted at ₹245-250 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool, TexPro.

In Delhi, the market witnessed a steady trend in cotton yarn prices, reflecting average but regular demand from the domestic weaving industry. A trader from the Delhi market told F2F, "The domestic demand for garments remains weak. As a result, garment manufacturers are being cautious with new production, which is impacting the demand for cotton yarn." In Delhi, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹267-272 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed yarn at ₹297-302 per kg, 30 count carded yarn at ₹237-242 per kg, and 40 count carded yarn at ₹267-272 per kg, as per TexPro.

Cotton comber was traded at a lower price in the Panipat market, with expectations that the supply of comber will improve following an increase in cotton combed yarn production. Cotton waste prices eased by ₹2 per kg in Panipat, India's major home furnishing hub, while the prices of recycled yarn remained unchanged. Festival demand continued to be weak.

In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹77-82 per kg (GST paid), and other varieties were priced as 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹50-54 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹92-97 per kg, and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹135-145 per kg. Comber prices hovered at ₹124-125 per kg, while recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹78-80 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre prices improved by ₹2-3 per kg, as virgin fibre and raw material prices were increased by major players.

North Indian cotton prices remained stable after a decrease last week. Mills were slow to buy cotton due to reduced demand from the downstream industry. Haryana received a significant amount of cotton, including new arrivals, with a total registered intake of 1,400 bales of 170 kg each, including 700 bales of new cotton. Rajasthan received 300 bales, while there was no noticeable arrival in Punjab. The natural fibre was traded in Punjab at ₹5,900-6,025 per maund of 37.2 kg, in Haryana at ₹5,900-5,975 per maund for old cotton and ₹6,085-6,100 per maund for new cotton, and in upper Rajasthan at ₹6,200-6,300 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was sold at ₹58,500-60,000 per candy of 356 kg.
