Flax yarn prices record low in Turkiye, soar to new heights in India

Flax yarn prices have reached their lowest level at $14.59 per kg (CIF) in Turkiye, while India has recorded the highest price at $18.42 per kg (CIF) in February this year. The premium fibre yarn was priced at $18.27 per kg (CIF) in Italy in the same month. Its prices have experienced a steep rise in February after a declining trend in the previous months.

According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, flax yarn (30 counts) prices were steady at $15.15 per kg in Turkiye (Middle East market) in August and September last year. Subsequently, the price dropped to $13.72 per kg in October 2023. However, there was a recovery, and the yarn price surged to $14.5 per kg in the following month. It then decreased to $13.62 per kg in December and further to $12.55 per kg in January 2024. The prices rose to $14.59 per kg in February this year. Despite recent fluctuations, flax yarn was observed at the lowest level in Turkiye among the major markets.

In India, the price of flax yarn stabilised at $15.49 per kg during August and September 2023. However, it soared to $18.96 per kg in October 2023. The prices increased further to $19.09 per kg in November and $19.22 per kg in December 2023. But there was a decline to $15.96 per kg in the first month of this year. It quickly recovered to $18.42 per kg in February 2024.

The premium yarn was noted at $16.87 per kg in August and September 2023. It dropped to $16.76 per kg in October 2023. However, the prices surged to $18.48 per kg in November and $18.61 per kg in December last year. They decreased to $16.47 per kg in January and recovered to $18.27 per kg in February 2024, as per TexPro.

Flax yarn is considered as superior to cotton, offering additional moisture-absorbing capacity and extra comfort.
