The Ludhiana market experienced a mixed trend in polyester-cotton and polyester spun yarn. Polyester-cotton yarn prices increased by ₹3-4 per kg due to higher demand post-festival. However, polyester yarn faced slower demand, leading to a price drop of ₹1-2 per kg. A trader from Ludhiana told Fibre2Fashion, “PC yarn prices increased due to strong demand post-holidays, and improved payment flows have facilitated additional purchases. Polyester yarn prices may also see a rise in the coming weeks, with the seasonal shift expected to boost PC yarn demand in the next few days.”
In Ludhiana, 30 count PC combed yarn (48/52) traded at ₹213-223 (approximately $2.53-2.65) per kg (GST inclusive); 30 count PC carded yarn (65/35) at ₹200-210 (approximately $2.37-2.49) per kg; 20 recycled polyester fibre at ₹110-119 (approximately $1.31-1.41) per kg; 30 count polyester spun at ₹159-165 (approximately $1.89-1.96) per kg (GST inclusive); and recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) at ₹76-78 (approximately $0.90-0.93) per kg.
In Surat, the polyester yarn market remained stable amid limited trade. The market was still partially closed due to ongoing holiday festivities. According to market sources, a few buyers and sellers were active in polyester yarn trade, while others remained on holiday. Extended holidays for power loom units also contributed to the thin trade in polyester yarn.
In Surat market, 30 count polyester spun yarn was traded at ₹147-148 (approximately $1.74-1.76) per kg (GST extra); 40 count poly spun yarn at ₹160-161 (approximately $1.90-1.91) per kg; 50/48 fully drawn yarn (FDY) at ₹114-115 (approximately $1.35-1.36) per kg; 75/72 FDY at ₹106-107 (approximately $1.26-1.27) per kg; and 75 bright yarn at ₹105-106 (approximately $1.25-1.26) per kg.
Viscose yarn prices remained stable due to limited trading after the festival, but traders expect demand to increase soon. Improved payment flows and the onset of the wedding season are anticipated to drive viscose yarn purchases, with the wedding season beginning after Diwali and continuing for several months with brief intervals.
In Mumbai, imported 30 count viscose vortex yarn was priced at ₹191-197 (approximately $2.27-2.34) per kg; and local 30 count ring-spun viscose yarn at ₹197-202 (approximately $2.34-2.40) per kg in this market.
