India’s Telangana state government recently issued an order to set up a yarn depot at Vemulawada of Rajanna Sircilla district for the power loom sector. The Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Limited (TGSCO) will be the nodal and implementing agency.

State principal secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer instructed the commissioner of handlooms and textiles to take the necessary action in this regard.

A corpus fund of ₹50 crore ($5.95 million) will be sanctioned to run the depot so that weavers can procure yarn from there required buffer stocks can be maintained. The fund will be allocated under the special backward class welfare budget, media reports from the state said.

The order for the budget sanction will be issued separately.
