Cotton yarn prices declined by ₹3 per kg in Delhi due to subdued demand. Local prices remained under pressure as buyers grew increasingly concerned about future export orders. The market reacted negatively to the latest geopolitical developments. A trader from Delhi told Fibre2Fashion, “Spinning mills and stockists are struggling to find buyers and are being forced to reduce prices. After the summer season, India’s cotton-based textile value chain becomes more export-dependent, as domestic consumers shift to cheaper polyester garments. But the ongoing US–Iran–Israel conflict has cast a shadow on export demand from Western markets.”
In Delhi, 30 count combed knitting yarn was traded at ₹257-258 (~$2.96-2.97) per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹282-283 (~$3.25-3.26) per kg, 30 count carded at ₹231-233 (~$2.66-2.79) per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹256-258 (~$2.95-2.97) per kg today.
Ludhiana also saw weak demand as buyers remained cautious. While cotton yarn prices held steady, a local trader noted that many buyers were switching to polyester due to its lower cost and as the summer season has ended.
In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹256-266 (~$2.95-3.07) per kg (inclusive of GST); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹246-256 (~$2.84-2.95) per kg and ₹251-261 (~$2.89-3.01) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at ₹236-241 (~$2.72-2.78) per kg today, according to trade sources.
The recycled yarn market in Panipat saw sluggish demand from consumers. While tensions in the Middle East could potentially disrupt the supply of rug waste—a key raw material for recycled PC yarn—the current situation also raises concerns about demand for finished home textile products. However, recycled polyester fibre gained ₹2 per kg, driven by rising prices of virgin polyester fibre.
In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹75-78 (~$0.86-0.90) per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts were noted at 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹52-55 (~$0.60-0.63) per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹101-103 (~$1.16-1.19) per kg and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹130-135 (~$1.50-1.56) per kg. Cotton comber prices were noted at ₹98-101 (~$1.13-1.16) per kg and recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) at ₹76-80 (~$0.88-0.92) per kg today.
In north India, cotton prices declined slightly by ₹10 per maund (37.2 kg), as buyers remained absent from the market. Limited trading occurred, as mills and stockists held minimal private stocks. Traders noted that cotton yarn prices opened the week on a steady note, but weak demand and reduced arrivals failed to support cotton prices, which have dropped ₹10 per maund since last Thursday.
North India’s cotton arrivals were estimated at 550 bales (170 kg each), with 400 bales in Haryana and 150 in upper Rajasthan. No new arrivals were reported in lower Rajasthan or Punjab. Cotton prices stood at ₹5,730–5,740 (~$66.04–66.16) per maund in Punjab, ₹5,540–5,600 (~$63.85–64.54) in Haryana, and ₹5,680–5,790 (~$65.47–66.73) in upper Rajasthan. In lower Rajasthan, prices ranged from ₹53,300 to ₹54,700 (~$614.31–630.45) per candy of 356 kg.
