A significant improvement in sales potential of rayon yarn was reported from Chinese provinces during the past week.

Driven by a rise in prices of other raw materials, viscose staple fibre (VSF) market improved last week. The price of VSF 1.5D × 38mm was 15,800 yuan/ton at the close of the week, a rise of 200 yuan/ton compared with the previous week. The average price was 15,710 yuan/ton, an increase of 70 yuan/ton over the price of previous week.

The hike in the price of VSF played a vital role in significantly improving the sales potential of rayon yarn in the week. Price of some lower yarn varieties rebounded.

Rayon yarn R30s is currently trading in the range of 19,500-20,000 yuan/ton in Shandong, Hebei and Henan provinces.

The improvement in VSF and rayon yarn markets resulted in stabilization of prices in the downstream rayon fabric sector.
