China's cotton yarn imports skyrocket in March 2013

In March 2013, China imported 199,400 tons of cotton yarn from various countries, showing a growth of 61 percent year-on-year and 94.8 percent month-on-month, according to customs statistics.
 
Since the beginning of the current cotton season, i.e. from September 2012, till March 2013, China imported a total of 1.061 million tons of cotton yarn, an increase of 55.3 percent year-on-year.
 
Pakistan and India were the top two suppliers of cotton yarn to China, in terms of volume, during the ongoing season.
