The prices of cotton carded yarn increased in North Indian market during the last fortnight ending July 15, 2013, as prices of all fibres consistently rose during the period.

With the approaching festival season, the demand for textiles and clothing is expected to rise in domestic market, which could also be a reason for the rise in prices, according to market analysts.

During the fortnight ending July 15, prices of single carded yarn surged by 3.36 percent for 10/1 KW to Rs. 154/kg, while prices of 20/1 KW rose 2.72 percent to Rs. 189/kg, 40/1 KW rose 2.28 percent to Rs. 224/kg, and 60/1 KW increased by 1.73 percent to Rs. 294/kg.

During the same period, the prices of combed yarn 10/1 CW increased 3.11 percent to Rs. 166/kg, 20/1 CW grew 2.51 percent to Rs. 204/kg, 40/1 CW rose 2.05 percent to Rs. 249/kg, and 60/1 CW jumped 1.62 percent to Rs. 314/kg.
