The prices of cotton carded yarn declined in Indian market by around Rs. 5-6/kg in the last two days.

Since September 25, cotton yarn prices are declining due to a dip in prices of cotton, appreciation of Indian currency, and sluggish demand from downstream market.

On Wednesday, September 25, prices of single carded yarn 10/1 KW declined by 3.03 percent to Rs. 160/kg, while that of 20/1 KW fell 2.60 percent to Rs. 187/kg, 40/1 KW dropped 2.22 percent to Rs. 220/kg, and 60/1 KW decreased 1.96 percent to Rs. 250/kg.

Similarly, prices of single combed yarn 10/1 CW fell by 2.78 percent to Rs. 175/kg, 20/1CW fell 2.42 percent to Rs. 202/kg, 30/1 CW fell 2.27 percent to Rs. 215/kg, 40/1 CW by 2.04 percent to Rs. 240/kg, and 60/1 CW by 1.82 percent to Rs. 270/kg.

Prices of cotton yarn are likely to decline further in the Indian market, in the short run, according to analysts.
