Spanish yarn exports touch €45mn in Feb'14

Spain exported yarn worth €45 million during the month of February 2014, registering a rise of 13 percent, compared to the same month in 2013, as per the data released by the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX).

According to the February 2014 Yarn Foreign Trade report of ICEX, Spanish exports of yarn totaled €45 million during February 2014, whereas the imports of yarn amounted to €43.2 million during the same month.

Imports of yarn by Spain during the month of February recorded a surge of 19.3 percent compared to the same month last year.

According to the ICEX data, France was the main destination for exports of yarn from Spain during the month of February, with exports amounting to €6.9 million, followed by Italy with €6.8 million, Germany with €6.3 million, Portugal with €4.7 million and the UK with €3.9 million.

The highest exports of yarn were made from the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia with exports totaling €34.3 million during the month of February 2014, followed by Valencia with €5.3 million, Aragon with €4.3 million, Cantabria with €247,600, and Castile and Leon with €146,675.

In January 2014, Spain exported yarn worth €34.98 million, registering a fall of 2 percent, compared to the same month in 2013, as per ICEX data.

Meanwhile, textile and clothing exports from the country amounted to €1.07 billion in February 2014, registering a rise of 10.4 percent, compared to the same month last year, as per the data released by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
