Imports of cotton yarn witness hike

According to the data released by the China Textile Industry Association, China's total imports of cotton yarn reached 563,700 tons from January to July of 2009, a year-on-year increase of 14.19 percent.

All products, including cotton yarn, cotton blended yarn, carded and combed cotton yarn witnessed year-on-year increase in import volumes, except cotton sewing threads, which declined marginally.

On the other hand, average import prices of cotton yarn fell 1.29 percent year-on-year and import price of cotton sewing thread significantly decreased by 14.58 percent.
