Indonesia has become the largest supplier of cotton yarn to Japan in the period January to June 2010, while imports from Pakistan and India have declined.

Japanese overall cotton yarn imports in the first half of 2010 however fell to 113,927 bales, down by 7.7 percent from the same period of the previous year.

Imports from Indonesia increased sharply to 37,385 bales, up 30 percent, while that from Pakistan fell 32.1percent to 31,642 bales, mainly due to restrictions on exports.
