North India's cotton yarn demand has modestly improved, with Ludhiana seeing a ₹2 per kg price rise, while Delhi remains stable. The market anticipates a seasonal uptick in demand for summer garments, yet traders remain cautious about the sustainability of this positive trend. Panipat's home textile hub, however, reports no change in recycled yarn and raw material prices, reflecting sluggish downstream buying.

In the Ludhiana market, sentiments improved in the cotton yarn trade, with buyers eager to replenish their stocks. Spinning mills also attempted to raise prices in anticipation of future buying. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, "After a prolonged slowdown in cotton yarn, the market witnessed increased demand from the weaving industry, which was looking to replenish stocks for the upcoming season. However, traders are uncertain if this positive trend will persist."

In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹252-262 per kg (GST inclusive); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹242-252 per kg and ₹247-257 per kg respectively; and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at 232-237 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.

The Delhi market also observed a positive tone in cotton yarn due to increased demand from the weaving industry. A trader from the Delhi market told F2F, "Buyers were keen on purchasing cotton yarn after remaining quiet for a prolonged period. The weaving industry is optimistic about sustained demand from the garment sector. However, doubts about the longevity of the current positive trend still persist." In this market, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹250-255 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹275-280 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹227-231 per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹252-255 per kg, as per TexPro.

Panipat, India's home textile hub, did not experience a positive trend, with recycled yarn prices remaining stable. A trader reported no upbeat movement in the recycled yarn trade due to high production capacity and sluggish demand, prompting mills and stockists to remain cautious. In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) traded at ₹74-78 per kg (GST paid), with other varieties like 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹49-52 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹85-90 per kg, and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹133-142 per kg. Cotton comber prices were around ₹112-114 per kg, and recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was priced at ₹72-74 per kg.

North India cotton prices remained flat amid limited buying from spinning mills. The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) was also purchasing unginned cotton (Kapas) in limited quantities at the minimum support price. The government procurement agency was not able to buy unginned cotton in larger quantities due to the scant arrival of good and average quality cotton. Traders noted that cotton prices were reverting to the levels of the previous close.

Cotton arrival was limited to 21,000 bales, with less than 50 per cent of the arrival comprising good and average quality produce. The arrival was around 21,000 bales of 170 kg each in the region. State-wise, arrivals were recorded as: Punjab 3,000 bales, Haryana 6,000 bales, upper Rajasthan 6,000 bales, and lower Rajasthan 6,000 bales. Cotton prices in Punjab were between ₹5,425-5,525, in Haryana ₹5,425-5,500, in upper Rajasthan ₹5,300-5,500 per maund of 37.2 kg. Bikaner line cotton sold for ₹5,525-5,600 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced between ₹52,000-54,000 per candy of 356 kg.
