In Ludhiana, the market has observed a downward trend in the prices of PC and polyester spun yarn. The prices have decreased by ₹2-3 per kg due to limited cash flow in the market. A trader from the Ludhiana market spoke to Fibre2Fashion, stating, "Diwali demand is now over at the manufacturing stage. Heavy imports of fabric and garments from Bangladesh and China are negatively impacting the domestic market, which is already facing bearish sentiments."
In the Ludhiana market, PC yarn and poly spun yarn were sold at lower prices, experiencing a decrease of ₹3-4 per kg. The 30 count PC combed yarn (48/52) was traded between ₹192-202 per kg, inclusive of GST. The 30 count PC carded yarn (65/35) was sold at ₹178-188 per kg. Meanwhile, 30 count poly spun was priced between ₹153-163 per kg, inclusive of GST. Recycled polyester fibre, made from PET bottles, was quoted at ₹70-72 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
The Surat market has also seen a price drop of ₹2-3 per kg in polyester spun and viscose yarn. Traders indicated that the market has been experiencing weaker demand for polyester spun yarn, particularly during the current festival season. Viscose yarn has also been under pressure due to poor festival demand, resulting in a price decline of ₹2 per kg. The 30 count poly spun yarn traded at ₹138-140 per kg, exclusive of GST, while 40 count poly spun yarn was priced at ₹154-155 per kg. The 30 count viscose compact yarn (local) was traded at ₹203-204 per kg, also exclusive of GST.
The Mumbai market has reported a weakening in the prices of viscose yarn amid lacklustre demand. Trade sources revealed that the decrease in prices is due to easing festival demand, particularly as Diwali demand has ended at the manufacturing stage. The market is now awaiting a better response in retail sales, which could potentially improve cash flow. Imported viscose vertex yarn was priced between ₹187-192 per kg, while local ring-spun viscose yarn was quoted at ₹196-202 per kg, according to TexPro.
Cotton prices in north India have continued to show a declining trend due to an influx of supply and limited demand from spinning mills. The natural fibre's price slipped by ₹50-60 per maund (37.2 kg) over the last two days. Traders report that cotton arrivals have increased in north India due to clear weather conditions. However, demand from spinning mills remains low. Cotton arrivals were estimated at 24,000 bales of 170 kg in the region, with state-wise contributions being 2,000 bales from Punjab, 7,000 from Haryana, 7,000 from upper Rajasthan, and 8,000 from lower Rajasthan. Prices varied across states, with Punjab at ₹5,670-5,770, Haryana at ₹5,650-5,750, and upper Rajasthan at ₹5,550-5,700 per maund. Lower Rajasthan reported prices between ₹55,500-57,000 per candy (356 kg).
