Indian markets have witnessed steadiness in polyester spun and polyester-cotton (PC) yarn prices. There was average demand from the downstream industry, but traders were quite hopeful for better demand in the coming weeks. Viscose yarn traded higher due to limited availability, and its prices improved by ₹2-3 per kg as the weaving industry came up for fresh buying. Viscose yarn found support due to tight supply and slightly better buying ahead of the festival.

The Ludhiana market saw a steady trend in PC yarn and poly spun yarn prices, hovering at previous levels. A trader from Ludhiana told Fibre2Fashion, “The demand from the weaving industry was average, and buyers were keen to buy yarn for immediate needs. However, demand is expected to improve in the coming weeks.”

PC yarn steadied amid average demand from the downstream industry, and poly spun yarn remained stable at previous prices. In Ludhiana, 30 count PC combed yarn (48/52) traded at ₹198-208 per kg (GST inclusive), and 30 count PC carded yarn (65/35) sold at ₹187-192 per kg. The 30 count poly spun was priced at ₹162-168 per kg, while recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was quoted at ₹76-79 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.

The Surat market also saw a steady trend in poly spun yarn with normal demand. Trade sources noted slightly better demand but not enough for the upcoming festival season. The market remains hopeful for higher demand soon, although only domestic demand is likely to improve, with export demand expected to remain weak. The 30 count poly spun yarn traded at ₹138-139 per kg (GST extra), and 40 counts poly spun yarn at ₹152-154 per kg.

But 30 viscose compact yarn (local) traded higher at ₹205-206 per kg in Surat, gaining ₹1-2 per kg due to better buying and limited availability. The Mumbai market also saw an upward trend amid limited supply, with imported viscose vertex yarn gaining ₹2 per kg at ₹187-192 per kg, and local ring spun viscose yarn quoted higher at ₹202-204 per kg, as per TexPro.

Earlier, RIL fixed prices as PTA at ₹86.70 per kg (decrease of ₹1.30), MEG at ₹51.80 per kg (unchanged), and MELT at ₹93.17 per kg (decrease of ₹1.12). The pricing of polyester raw materials came into effect from last Saturday. The company increased PSF prices again by ₹1 to ₹107 per kg but rolled over prices for this fortnight. POY & PTY prices were also rolled over across the deniers and lustres.

North Indian cotton prices slightly eased after lowering the prices in ICE cotton. Local demand was also limited from spinning mills. According to trade sources, the recent rise in natural fibre discouraged spinners from new purchases. Cotton prices decreased by ₹25 per maund of 37.2 kg. Cotton was traded at ₹5,975 -6,075 per maund in Punjab, ₹5,900-6,000 per maund in Haryana and ₹6,175-6,275 per maund in upper Rajasthan, and at ₹58,000-59,500 per candy of 356 kg in lower Rajasthan.
