In Tiruppur, cotton yarn prices have remained stable, largely due to tepid demand from the weaving industry. The garment sector has also seen limited fabric purchases. Both export and domestic garment demand continue to be bearish. A trader from Tiruppur told Fibre2Fashion, "Buyers are extremely cautious with new purchases, acquiring yarn only for immediate needs. The absence of expected price increases serves as a deterrent for striking new deals."
Prices in the Tiruppur market were noted as 30 count combed cotton yarn at ₹258-265 per kg (excluding GST), 34 count combed cotton yarn at ₹268-275 per kg, 40 count combed cotton yarn at ₹275-285 per kg, 30 count carded cotton yarn at ₹235-240 per kg, 34 count carded cotton yarn at ₹240-245 per kg and 40 count carded cotton yarn at ₹246-253 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Cotton yarn prices in Mumbai's market are holding steady at previous levels, even as mills face challenges due to rising production costs after recent gains in cotton prices. The market is waiting to see if festival spending will improve sentiments."
In Mumbai, 60 carded yarn of warp and weft varieties was sold at ₹1,420-1,440 and ₹1,312-1,355 per 5 kg (excluding GST), respectively. In Gujarat, cotton prices have remained steady, largely due to restrained purchasing from spinning mills. Traders report that mills are hesitant to make new purchases as they are not experiencing strong demand from the weaving industry. Cotton arrivals in the state were approximately 7,000 bales of 170 kg each, while the total cotton arrival across India was estimated at 21,500 bales.
