As spinning mills have stopped supplying cotton yarn and not taking up fresh orders, the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has appealed to the Southern India Mills’ Association, the Tamil Nadu Spinning Mills Association and the Indian Texpreneurs Federation to advise their members to continuously supply yarn to protect the Tiruppur knitwear exports sector.

TEA president Raja M Shanmugham said the current decision of mills would certainly affect garment export units at the cluster and more workers may lose jobs.

He pointed out in his letter that due to non-commitment of delivery schedule, foreign buyers will not only cancel orders, but also will not be ready to place future orders with them.
