A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, “Spinning mills were reluctant to sell their stock as they anticipated rise in yarn prices after stronger cotton. ICE cotton has seen higher increase compared to domestic prices. Payment issue was also looming in the market, but direct impact on prices was not seen. However, yarn trade remained limited due to the problem.” In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹256-266 per kg (GST inclusive); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹246-256 per kg and ₹2451-261 per kg respectively; and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at 236-242 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
Another trader from Delhi market told F2F, “Spinning mills have increased their selling prices by ₹2-3 per kg despite limited demand from the downstream industry. They were trying to encash recent rise in cotton but demand was not so strong. Carded yarn noted steeper rise in comparison to combed yarn.” In this market, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹255-260 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹280-285 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹238-243 per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹263-268 per kg, as per TexPro.
Recycled yarn was traded at previous prices in the Panipat market amid slow demand. Traders said that recycled yarn demand was very slow from downstream industry. A balance in demand and supply supported current price levels. In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹76-80 per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts were noted as: 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹51-54 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹88-93 per kg, and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹133-142 per kg. Cotton comber prices were noted at ₹112-114 per kg. The price of recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹73-76 per kg.
North India cotton prices steadied amid slow demand from spinning mills. However, ICE cotton had noticed upward trend. State-wise arrivals were noted as: Punjab 2,500 bales, Haryana 5,500 bales, upper Rajasthan 5,500 bales, and lower Rajasthan 3,000 bales. Cotton was priced in Punjab at ₹5,575-5,675 and in Haryana at ₹5,550-5,650, upper Rajasthan at ₹5,325-5,550 per maund of 37.2 kg. Bikaner line cotton was sold at ₹5,575-5,675 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced at ₹52,500-54,500 per candy of 356 kg.
