Eni has gained approval to convert units at its Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi refinery into a biorefinery, using Ecofining tech and a new pre-treatment unit for waste feedstocks. Starting in 2028, it will produce HVO diesel and SAF-biojet alongside traditional fuels, with 550,000 t/y capacity. The project boosts Eni’s goal to expand biorefining to over 5 million tonnes per year by 2030.

Technip Energies and Anellotech will commercialise Plas-TCat, a catalytic technology converting mixed plastic waste into high-value chemicals like BTX, ethylene, and propylene.
