MRPL records impressive performance in QII

MRPL achieved an excellent financial performance during the second quarter 2007-08. The Company earned a Net Profit of Rs.332 crore as compared to Rs.9 crore in the corresponding previous quarter of 2006-07 after providing for Interest and finance charges of Rs. 36 crore ( Rs.59 crore), depreciation of Rs 95 crore (Rs 87 crore) and tax provision of Rs. 26 crore (Rs 5 crore).

Throughput during the quarter was marginally higher at 3.22 MMT (3.21 MMT); However, turnover was Rs.8,852 crore (Rs.8,908 crore) due to depreciation in US $ vis-à-vis Indian Rupee.

The Performance of the Company during the half year ending 30/09/2007 is equally impressive. The gross turnover was Rs. 17,347 Crore, (Up 7% from Rs 16,182 Crores) and thruput 6.38 MMT (up 7% from 5.95 MMT). The net profit during the half-year ended September 2007 was Rs.700 crore (up 211 % from Rs 225 Crore).

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION:
• MRPL's performance on Energy Conservation continues to be excellent. For the fourth year in succession, the Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Energy Performance Award was given to MRPL by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (20th September, 2007)
• In recognition of the very high safety levels in MRPL, the Company was conferred with Safety Awards by Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) and also by Ministry of Labour & Employment (29th September, 2007)
• It is also a moment of pride that MRPL received the prestigious NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025/2005 Certification.
This will enable any National and International Company to utilize the service of MRPL, for testing of petroleum and related products (23rd September, 2007).
• MRPL has received 'Energy efficient Unit' Award 2007 from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the third consecutive year.
• In September 2007, the Company co-hosted, along with Centre of High Technology (CHT), the Refinery technology Meet in Trivandrum (Kerala). This Conference brought refiners and Technology suppliers in India and all around the world together, for sharing of information on new technologies and operating experience.
