The strategy of the Gerry Weber group provides for the company's transformation from a brand manufacturer into an international lifestyle corporation. In the medium term, wholesale sales will decline as retail sales are expanded. This will be achieved through the strong expansion of the company's own multi-brand and single-brand stores and growing vertical responsibility also in the retail stores, e.g. in the form of concessions.
Gerhard Weber, company founder and Board Chairman of the Gerry Weber Group, said, “The figures reported by the Houses of Gerry Weber show that our retail activities are at least as successful as our manufacturing activities. So why not exploit this opportunity? I am convinced that we will sell more than half of our products in our own or franchised stores by the year 2010.”
In the current fiscal year, group sales will rise to €440 million, with a projected €50 million contributed by the retail segment. Benefiting from continued internal efficiency improvements, the margin will probably pass the 10 percent mark in fiscal 2005/2006. Double-digit profit margins are also projected for the following years.
