2nd Fashion Knowledge Forum (FKF) 2006 announced

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Fashion Technology Park (FTP) today announced the second Fashion Knowledge Forum (FKF) 2006, a first of its kind international conference and exposition that will focus on the issues regarding the development of the Indian Fashion Design Industry through technical sessions and discussions by global industry leaders. FKF 2006 will be held on November 15 - 16, 2006 in Chandigarh. Ernst & Young is the Knowledge Partner of the event.

The forum, unique in nature and one of its kind of the fashion design industry, will feature intriguing sessions on various aspects of fashion design - manufacturing, policy framework, retailing, branding, R & D - thereby providing a knowledge transferal and information exchange of critical know how and expertise in the Indian fashion industry.

Affirming the Apparel and Textiles industry as the growth centers of Indian economy, Dr. Sarita nagpal, Member, CII National Committee on Apparel and Textiles, said, “Global trade in textile and clothing industry is currently pegged at around US$ 450 billion. With the dismantling of quotas and signing of FTAs, the expectations of the textiles and clothing industry of developing economies are well poised to capture growth opportunities in the value added garment segment. India and China are two emerging economies of the World and textile and apparel sector constitutes a traditional pillar industry of these countries. Significantly, China is emerging as global production hub and India, as a most sought outsourcing destination for design led value added services and products.”
